FAQs
We are a private and confidential service. We will not share any of your information with anyone outside of the service unless we have concerns that someone is at risk of serious harm. Our records are confidential and kept in line with GDPR (data protection) legislation. Any notes we take during sessions are extremely brief (one or two words) and are only used as an aide memoir. They do not detail what was discussed and by who.
You can telephone our main Centre on 0116 2543011 and make an appointment. If you ring out-of-hours or we cannot answer because we are on another call, please leave a message on the answer phone and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. You can also email us on reception@rllr.org.uk
In most cases there is a cost for our services. There is support available which can be discussed when enquiring about a service. The cost of the initial assessment is £55, subsequent sessions are £48 for individual, relationship and children & young people's counselling. Sex therapy sessions and family counselling is £55 per session.
We understand that attending counselling for the first time can be overwhelming. You are welcome to bring someone with you who can wait in our waiting room or wellbeing garden during your session.
This will depend on the service that you're accessing and the goals you have for therapy. You can discuss this with the counsellor during your initial assessment.
We aim to offer you an initial appointment with a counsellor within 1-2 weeks of you registering. There is not normally too long a wait for ongoing counselling - it depends on your availability.
All Relate counsellors have received counsellor training and qualified as a counsellor.
To be a Relate counsellor, you then specialise in further post qualifying certificates. For example, sex therapy, relationship counselling, family counselling or counselling for children and young people.
All of our services are accrediated by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
In line with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) guidelines, all Relate counsellors continue to receive ongoing professional training throughout their counselling career and regular clinical supervision.
Each year our Centre has two or three Counsellors in Training. They have been trained but are working towards becoming fully qualified. You may be asked if you would mind seeing a Counsellor in Training. When counsellors are ‘in training’ they receive very close professional support.
